WERC is a not-for-profit organization that works to advance women’s success in the workplace by building their economic and personal independence.
Each year more than 300 program participants receive more than 2,700 services at no cost to them, including:
- career readiness and computer training,
- job search and placement assistance, and
- ongoing supportive services until they find employment.
Since 1988, WERC has provided quality workforce development services to more than 9,000 women from the Capital Region who have lost their source of support due to divorce, separation, or their spouse’s job loss, disability or death. Single mothers or women who are pending loss of public assistance benefits also qualify for WERC’s training programs.
During these extraordinary and unprecedented times, the need for WERC’s services has only increased. The pandemic forced many businesses to shut down or lay off employees. Furthermore, changes in childcare during this time has forced many women to leave employment to care for their children.
Looking to the future with hopeful optimism, WERC is preparing to help women navigate a post pandemic job search and workplace. Program participants receive services until they find employment and a lifetime of support within our constellation.
WERC believes the world is a better place with empowered, confident women succeeding without boundaries. Please help us make our vision a reality, by getting involved today.
