For 16 years, Circles of Mercy, located in Rensselaer, N.Y., has provided services to the community, including free tax preparation, computer training, social services, mentoring, resume and job seeking services, holiday programs and Catherine’s Closet for clothing and household goods. In the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy, Circles of Mercy has a mission of improving the quality of life in its community by working for public policy changes in order to end the cycle of poverty, especially among women and women with children. Services are provided in an effort to instill hope and empower individuals to reach their full potential.
Following a successful Irish Night fundraiser that raised more than $8,700, Circles is now busy preparing for the holidays as well as gearing up for the upcoming tax season.  During the holidays, the organization will support 40 families with the help of generous donors who ensure those families have what they need for a joyous Christmas.  Then, in January Circles will begin offering free tax preparation services through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
Volunteers are always needed to help Circles continue providing services to the residents of Rensselaer.  If you are interested in supporting this great community organization, get in touch with the staff at circlesofmercy@nycap.rr.com or by calling 518.462.0899.
