The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services, offering a variety of programs and services in support of its mission: “Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.”
LLS relies on the support of individuals, corporations and foundations to fund its research initiatives, patient services and education programs. The organization’s many generous donors and sponsors have made it possible for LLS to invest more than $815 million in research targeting leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma since its first funding in 1954.
There are so many ways to help, including attending the ninth annual Taste of Compassion, a wine tasting event set for Saturday, Feb. 2. The event, which will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy from 7 to 10 pm, will feature exquisite wines from renowned vintners, delicious light fare, live music and both live and silent auctions. The evening will also be marked by the stories and photos of inspirational survivors and lost loved ones. To make your reservation, go to the LLS website or call the chapter office at (518) 438-3583.
Volunteering is another way to help, and one person can make a difference. Volunteers play a key role in helping LLS in its quest for a cure. There are many ways to volunteer, including:
- Man & Woman of the Year recruitment
- Taste of Compassion event committee
- Light the Night® walk committee
- Corporate sponsorships
- Advocacy
- General office help
The LLS welcomes your help, in whatever form it comes. Call the chapter at (518) 438-3583 or go to the LLS website for more information.
