The Colonie Youth Center, Inc. (CYC) is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to enhancing the living experience for all people in the greater Capital Region. CYC serves 13,000 children and adults annually, offering a variety of services from school-age child care and summer camps to counseling to recreational activities at the Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center.
CYC’s School-Age Child Care (SACC) Program provides nearly 1,000 children with before- and after-school care each school day at 13 North and South Colonie school locations and at the Town of Colonie Community Center. The SACC Program also provides school break camps and multiple full-day summer camp locations for resident and non-resident families. The program gives children the opportunity to have fun, socialize and engage in positive recreational activities.
Counseling services are also available to children, individuals, couples, and families in need of care and support through CYC. Whether situations involve youth, adults, couples or the entire family, the staff of licensed mental health professionals is available to help, providing one-on-one counseling with flexible hours and very affordable rates. The CYC professional staff also provides workshops and presentations on topics such as parenting, family issues, couples’ issues, anxiety and depression in children, bullying, separation and divorce, conflict resolution, and many others.
The Ciccotti Center meets year-round recreation, health and wellness needs for Colonie and surrounding communities. The aquatics facility offers the perfect place for swim lessons, group exercise programs, birthday parties and more. The center also includes a top-of-the-line fitness center with two full-size gymnasiums, an indoor jog/walk track, the latest fitness equipment, personal training, and an endless list of group exercise classes for every level.
Mark your calendar now and plan to join the CYC for its 10th annual Crossings 5K Challenge & Kids Fun Run on Sunday, September 29. The course starts near the Ciccotti Center and runs through the Colonie Crossings Park. All proceeds will benefit CYC’s school-age child care services, child and family counseling services, and community programs.
